WHAT I DO

My work blends classic art techniques dating back to the 1800's with modern digital concepts. In doing so, I reform (re4m) the traditional and the classical to evoke new aesthetics in harmony with both modern and traditional interior spaces.

My subject matter is beauty and vibrancy. From the dawning world of a sprouting seed to the smooth curves of a 1930’s automobile, I embrace beauty and infuse it with brilliant colors, evocative layering, and digital distortions.

Above all, my artwork embraces the joy and playfulness of life through reforming everyday beauty.

BIOPHILIC ART

Biophilic Art brings the outside world “inside”. It is my homage to all things organic.

After studying classical botanical illustration and Persian miniature painting for many years, I decided to turn 180 degrees in the direction of large, explosive designs that capture the vitality of natural forms. Structures have been stripped down to their essential elements. Details are selectively highlighted. And colors mimick the underlying exuberance of all life forms.

To bring the outside, “inside” is to extend the harmonious presence of nature into shared or personal spaces. It is to remember where we come from as we journey on. So, happy travels through this site!

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Maureen Neumann has been part of the international design community for most of her professional life. Beginning with an arts education from institutions as diverse as the Prince’s School for Traditional Arts in London to the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, her breadth of exposure to old masters’ techniques throughout Europe and the Near East has enhanced a deeper exploration of cultural identities.

Her design work has been covered in Vogue, Interior Design Magazine, W, Texas HomesNYTimes Design Section, and she has received a "Roscoe Award" for most innovative design in an architectural medium.

Maureen’s current work is a convergence of classical art traditions with current digital technologies and contemporary design ideologies.

People should talk less and draw more. Personally, I would like to renounce speech altogether and, like organic nature, communicate everything I have to say visually.
